We have a client that wanted to update her fireplace before Christmas. She decided that 1×6 shiplap horizontal with a 3 1/2″ wide trim piece on the sides, a 5 1/2″ trim piece at the top, and finished with 2 1/4″ casing would give her the look see wanted. We installed the materials and painted the wood to match the existing mantel.
